Shweta is an equity partner in the Competition Law Practice at Amarchand Mangaldas in New Delhi, specialising in merger control (strategic and PE), cartels and leniency, counselling, antitrust litigation compliance spanning a wide variety of business segments including telecom, e-commerce, manufacturing, construction, natural resources, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, financial services, etc.

Shweta has advised on marquee strategic transactions such as Holcim/Lafarge, PVR/DT Cinemas, JK/Kesoram, Vodafone/Idea and most recently, Walmart/Flipkart. She also routinely advises leading private equity firms on notification of minority investments, gun-jumping concerns, strategy and compliance. Shweta has also been involved in securing the first CCI approval for a transaction notified pursuant to a corporate insolvency resolution process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 (IBC) for Binani Cement, on behalf of Dalmia Cement.

On the cartel’s front, Shweta has been involved in several domestic and international cartel investigations, including filing leniency applications before the CCI. Most prominently, she has advised on the Cement and Tyre industry cartel cases. Recently, Shweta secured a 100% waiver in penalty for Globecast Asia in relation to their involvement in a bid-rigging cartel and was also involved in the first cartel case involving a coordinated dawn raid by the Director General’s Office.

Today she helps corporate clients as well as aspiring entrepreneurs to stand out from the competition and maximize their impact through the strategic use of personal branding of the CEO’s and employees.

Shweta regularly publishes in various publications on topical areas of competition law as well as speaks on public platforms. She is a Non-Governmental Advisor (NGA) to the International Competition Network (ICN) for India.
